Mouse tactile operant
This task uses the OM4 or 3 boards to deliver stimuli, while recording animal responses of either licks or lever presses.
In this example, the stimulus is a small pole that is rotated into the whisker field of a headfixed mouse, using a stepper motor. In this specific case, I'm using top and bottom pole stimuli.
First, the animal depresses a small lever in order to initiate a trial. The stimulus moves into place, at which time the animal can lift his paw from the lever to signal a choice. If the animal responds to the correct stimulus for this session, he gets a small drop of water. Otherwise if he responds during the unrewarded stimulus, he gets a white noise stimulus and a timeout before the next trial.
